Early 20th Century Ships Lantern
Wonderful large Ships lantern, Early 20th Century.
Made by Hugh Douglas of Walmsley St, Liverpool UK. Sheet Iron Worker, Shipsmith, Boiler Maker, Tinsmith. Copper with brass fittings and thick ribbed clear glass outer. It has a red glass sleeve inside for a Port light that can be removed if you prefer it to be clear.
Originally an oil lantern it has been converted to electricity and holds a standard bayonet bulb, for use with led bulbs.
It is the largest we have ever had and quite a statement.
Hanging loops to the top and bottom. It has a repaired tight crack to the red glass as shown and an internal chip to the inside of the clear glass, also shown.
It measures 510mm high (not including the hanging loops) and is 300mm across (not including side loops)
Very substantial and obviously made to survive a harsh sea life. It weighs 12.5kg.
