Late 17th C Oak Coffer

Late 17th Century Oak coffer. We found this one in Cheshire.

It has one plank sides, back and base. The top and carved front are paneled. Remnants of original loop hinges and lovely patina. I love the arched pattern to the front. The wide planks have twisted over the last 340 years so as you can see the sides are gently curved. Lots of signs of age, old wood worm holes, long gone. Sympathetically restored in our workshop and ready to be used again.

It measures 1360mm wide x 510mm deep x 670mm high.

The colour may be slightly different depending on your screen. All of our furniture is Antique or Vintage and has patina.

When we restore pieces we never take them back to raw as this lessens the integrity of a piece. Patina is the build up of little marks and scratches over the many years of the life of an antique, these give it a lovely warm overall appearance.
