Incredible 18th Century Oak coffer.
Nicely carved front and the initials ‘H.A.’ The top bar (not the initials) was carved later, in Victorian times. The Oak has aged to a gorgeous deep tone and is raised on simple stile legs.
There are lots of signs of age, and has had many replacement hinges with the current one being the traditional loop hinge. One of the hinges on the internal candle box is worn and loose, but still opens and shuts. It is strong and ready to store your blankets for many years to come.
It measures 1230mm wide x 545mm deep x 630mm high.
The colour may be slightly different depending on your screen. All of our furniture is Antique or Vintage and has patina.
When we restore pieces we never take them back to raw as this lessens the integrity of a piece. Patina is the build up of little marks and scratches over the many years of the life of an antique, these give it a lovely warm overall appearance.
If there are any major marks or defects we will always point them out either in the description and or photos. If you need more photos just let us know. Inspections welcome. Pop into our shop.
